Sloppy Joes

This is a recipe I found on my new favorite cooking website The original recipe called for ground beef but I almost always substitute ground turkey or chicken to make it healthier. I also served it with crispy kale and sweet potato fries. I will post those recipes soon as well. Everyone thought it was a hit!

Ingredients :

2 T canola oil
2 lbs. ground turkey
1 onion chopped
2 carrots peeled and chopped
2 stalks celery chopped
1/2 bell pepper chopped
1 T minced garlic
1 C brown sugar
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp ground cloves

Saute turkey, vegetables and garlic in canola oil over medium heat until browned, drain off any fat. Add remaining ingredients and mix well . Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat. Simmer for about 30 minutes and serve over whole wheat hamburger rolls.
